Across New York City

Our office is at 1839 Flatbush Ave in Brooklyn, but most clients never need to visit. Bank feeds connect directly and documents go into a shared folder. We work the same way with a shop in Manhattan, a contractor in Queens, or a restaurant in the Bronx or Staten Island.

If you’re in Brooklyn and want to meet in person, see our Brooklyn bookkeeping page. Outside New York? Our virtual bookkeeping service works the same way nationwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does bookkeeping cost for a small business in New York?

Bookkeeping-only plans start at $250 per month. [Version B: delete this sentence.] Bundled plans that add payroll, sales tax filing and tax returns cost $450, $600 or $750+ per month, depending on your accounts, transactions and employees. We quote catch-up work separately.

Do you work with businesses outside Brooklyn?

Yes. We rebuild missing months from your bank and card statements, reconcile each account and correct miscoded entries. You get a written quote before we start. Then we move you onto monthly bookkeeping so the backlog doesn’t come back.

Can you catch up books that are months or years behind?

Yes. We rebuild missing months from your bank and card statements, reconcile each account and correct miscoded entries. You get a written quote before we start. Then we move you onto monthly bookkeeping so the backlog doesn’t come back.

Do you file New York sales tax returns?

Yes. Sales tax return filing is included in every bundled plan. New York City’s 8.875% combined rate goes on the New York State return, which you file with the Department of Taxation and Finance monthly, quarterly or annually, depending on your sales. If you’re behind on filings, we help you get current.

Do I still need a bookkeeper if I use QuickBooks?

QuickBooks records transactions. Someone still has to categorize them, reconcile accounts, and fix bank-feed errors. Many owners call us when their file stops matching the bank. Our guide, Do I need a bookkeeper if I use QuickBooks?, explains when it makes sense.

What's the difference between bookkeeping and tax preparation?

Bookkeeping is the monthly work of recording and reconciling transactions. Tax preparation uses those finished books to file your returns. We do both, so one firm handles your full year.

What happens if my books aren't ready at tax time?

We can’t prepare your return accurately until the year is closed, so you may need to file an extension. An extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay. Late-payment penalties and interest can still apply. Keeping your books current each month avoids that.

Is professional bookkeeping worth it for a small business?

For most owners, yes, once the books take more than a few hours a month or errors start reaching the tax return. Clean monthly books show your real cash position, catch missed deductions and speed up loan applications and tax filing.
